RAGBRAI riders making their way to Iowa City on Friday, July 27, can now request private housing accommodations at www.iowacityragbrai.com.
While RAGBRAI will provide plenty of camping space in the main campgrounds, riders seeking other accommodations can request to be connected with private housing by volunteer hosts by filling out the online request form.
A donation of $3 per group is requested to help defray costs. RAGBRAI groups seeking private housing should note that RVs will not be accommodated at host homes for safety reasons.
The deadline to submit a private housing request is July 1.
In addition, the Iowa City RAGBRAI committee is seeking volunteer host homes to accommodate RAGBRAI groups of 15 or fewer people overnight on Friday, July 27. Community members willing to provide host housing, which can range from a yard to camp in to indoor sleeping space, should fill out the Host A Rider form.
Host housing will be most needed in areas of relative proximity to the downtown district, where the main entertainment will take place. The deadline to register as a volunteer host home is July 1.
Iowa City will be an overnight stop for RAGBRAI on Friday, July 27. RAGBRAI is the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, which this year will begin in Onawa on July 21 and end in Davenport on July 28. The annual event draws about 12,000 cyclists from around the world. Iowa City last hosted RAGBRAI in 1976.
To volunteer to help with the overnight stop, purchase an official T-shirt, or inquire about a sponsorship, go to www.iowacityragbrai.com. For the latest news and updates, follow Iowa City RAGBRAI on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
