Welcome RAGBRAI pre-riders to Iowa City on Friday

The official RAGBRAI pre-ride will “Book It to Iowa City” on Friday  – and we need your help to roll out the welcome mat!

Cyclists will make the nearly 60 mile trek from Sigourney to Iowa City as they test the route on Friday, June 8, 2018, and are expected to arrive in Iowa City via Sand Road about 2:30 p.m. Meet at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area, 579 McCollister Blvd., and sport the official Iowa City RAGBRAI T-shirt (or any Hawkeye black and gold!) and give riders a big wave as they enter town.

The merriment will continue with a pre-ride welcome party at Big Grove Brewery & Taproom, 1225 S. Gilbert St. Riders are expected to arrive at the brewery between 3 and 3:30 p.m. RSVP to the Facebook event for updates and reminders.

A rider sendoff will take place as part of a special RAGBRAI Pep Rally Saturday, June 9, at the Iowa City Farmers Market, featuring Herky the Hawkeye! Attendees should be in place by 7 a.m. to wave goodbye to riders as they begin their final leg of the pre-ride from Iowa City to Davenport. Stick around to snap a few photos with Herky and snag your official Iowa City RAGBRAI T-shirt. Merchandise, as well as volunteer and general Iowa City RAGBRAI event information, will be at the Market’s info table near the Washington Street entrance to the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp, 405 E. Washington St. RSVP to the Facebook event for updates and reminders.
