Iowa City is excited to welcome you and thousands of other cyclists for the first RAGBRAI overnight stop in nearly 42 years! To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit on Friday, July 27, please review the following travel and camping information. Using GPS is not advised. You will encounter RAGBRAI and construction closures, as well as low clearance underpasses. Follow the directions given below.

Accessing Campgrounds 

  • The main campgrounds and RV parking are located at City Park, 200 Park Road.
  • Registered vehicles should take I-80 and exit on Dubuque Street (exit 244) southbound.
  • Once on Dubuque Street, keep right. RAGBRAI Traffic will be directed to stop at a checkpoint where they will receive further instructions on how to proceed.
  • Park Road Bridge will only be open to RAGBRAI registered vehicles. No pedestrians, cyclists or       other vehicles will be allowed access at any time.
  • This bridge is currently under construction. Proceed with caution.
  • The bridge will close to RAGBRAI registered traffic at 6 p.m. and reopen at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, before closing again at noon.
  • Follow @RAGBRAI_IC on Twitter for live traffic info, and updates when the main RV lot is full.
  • Overflow/alternate RV space, located adjacent to the bike route, is available at Napoleon Park, 2501 S. Gilbert St. Registered vehicles using this location should take Highway 218, exit north on Old Highway 218 (exit 89), then east on McCollister Boulevard, and turn left at the driveway after the bridge. Volunteers will be present to provide assistance.

Camping Amenities  

  • City Park campgrounds will include:
    • First Aid in shelter 8
    • Information booth in shelter 6
    • Food trucks
    • Bike shop/repair station
    • Showers at and near City Park Pool
    • Shuttle will run 11 a.m. to midnight to the main entertainment hub located Downtown
    • Ice for sale, $5 per bag
  • Napoleon Park campgrounds will include:
    • Showers
    • Shuttle will run 11 a.m. to midnight to the main entertainment hub located Downtown
    • Concessions
    • Information booth located at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area, 579 McCollister Blvd.
  • RV dumping will not be permitted in Iowa City, please call ahead to neighboring public septic dump sites.

Notice for Campers 

  • Camping space will be staffed and RAGBRAI vehicle passes monitored
  • It is illegal to consume alcohol, use portable bonfires or swim in lakes and rivers in Iowa City parks.
  • It is advised that you do not leave your bike in an unattended or unsecure area
  • Shuttles run from 11 a.m. to midnight
