The University of Iowa will welcome RAGBRAI riders and visitors to campus with open houses at several featured spaces on campus from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 27.
Open houses will take place at these locations: the Pentacrest, Old Capitol, the T. Anne Cleary Walkway, Iowa Memorial Union, Main Library, Hancher Auditorium, Voxman School of Music, Visual Arts Building, Kinnick Stadium, Carver-Hawkeye Arena, College of Engineering, College of Education, Tippie College of Business, and the Miscanthus Field along the RAGBRAI route on Sand Road.
In addition, the Mobile Museum will be stationed downtown and will be open to visitors, UI Dance Marathon volunteers will be greeting riders and visitors on the Cleary Walkway, and UI Health Care and the Iowa Dermatological Society will hand out sunscreen and be available to discuss sun safety. The Grant Wood Art Colony will host an outreach booth at the Visual Arts Building.
In addition, UI volunteers will be stationed across campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 27, at “Ask Me” tents to provide way finding and answer questions. The “Ask Me” tents will be located on the Pentacrest, in the T. Anne Cleary Walkway, Hancher Auditorium, Kinnick Stadium, Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa Memorial Union, Main Library, Voxman Music Building, Field House, and Visual Arts Building.
Campus tours will leave from the Pentacrest every 30 minutes from noon to 5 p.m.
No camping will be allowed on the UI campus except for RV camping in the Hancher parking lot.
The Department of Athletics will host open houses at the following locations:
Carver-Hawkeye Arena: The south doors and west doors will be open for limited concourse access in the arena from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No fans will be allowed on the arena floor due to a volleyball camp in progress. The north lobby doors will be open for viewing of the main entrance.
Hansen Family Athletics Facility: The main entrance and the All-American Room will be open for fans to view football trophies from noon to 4 p.m.
Kinnick Stadium: Gates A and B will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to construction in the north end zone, only limited access to the field will be available. No bicycles will be allowed on the field.
